“Helping Children to Reach New Heights”
High Peak Children’s Physiotherapy was established in 2024 by Kaylee Delahunt, Specialist Children’s Physiotherapist with the aim of providing a flexible, friendly and accessible service to maximise your child’s function, independence and confidence.
Following a thorough assessment, goals for therapy will be agreed in partnership with you and your child. Your child’s interests and motivations will be incorporated into their follow up physiotherapy sessions, as well as lots of fun and giggles along the way!
With Kaylee’s expertise and flexibility to provide treatments in various settings, High Peak Children’s Physiotherapy offers versatile and personalised care for your child. We can travel to your home, your child’s nursery, school, day centre, sports club or gym! Kaylee also has experience being the treating therapist for case managed children so please get in touch if you think we can help.
High Peak Children’s Physiotherapy currently provides specialist children’s physiotherapy services to children across the High Peak including Buxton, Chapel-en-le-frith, Whaley Bridge, New Mills, Glossop and surrounding areas across Stockport, Tameside, Greater Manchester and the North West.
Our Services
-
ND Therapy
Neuro developmental therapy is the use of therapeutic handling techniques and repetitive exercise to promote functional patterns of movement to improve your child’s independence and quality of life. This will involve repetitive functional task practise to help improve your child’s ability to participate in transitions. Exercise will be delivered through play and incorporate activities your child enjoys!
-
Postural Management
A 24 hour programme of handling, treatment and positioning to promote your child’s development, comfort and reduce the risk of destructive postures. The aim is to promote symmetry in your child’s body shape in every position they adopt, including lying, sitting and standing. 24 hour postural management will include the use of specialist equipment and orthotics.
-
Hydrotherapy
Physiotherapy led exercise in warm water! The properties and temperature of the hydrotherapy pool allow for greater range of movement, opportunities for muscle strengthening, relaxation and functional movement practice. It is also incredibly fun!
-
Exercise Prescription and Rehabilitation
Fun and bespoke exercise and rehabilitation programmes, tailored around your child’s needs and interests. The focus of your child’s programme can be around mobility and flexibility, strengthening, balance and core stability, and developing gross motor skills.
-
Developmental Therapy
Targeted sequential exercise therapy delivered through play to encourage the development of your child’s motor milestones. This is a progressive programme of activities, based on normal child development and gross motor milestones. You will feel confident and equipped to support your child’s progression!
-
DMI Therapy
Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) is used to treat children with motor delay by improving automatic postural responses and promoting progress towards developmental milestones.
The goal of DMI is to provoke a specified active motor response to prescribed dynamic exercises.
DMI stimulates neuroplasticity to facilitate new neuronal connections and development of motor milestones.
